All proceeds from the Winter Benefit will support YRF's Ethan H. Freed Learning Center currently under construction in Ramla, one of Israel's most in-need communities
English proficiency plays a vital role in determining academic success and future employment. Unfortunately, Israel's education system suffers from a shortage of qualified teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and budget cuts. As a result, students in low-income communities like Ramla have little access to quality resources for learning English.
The Ethan H. Freed Learning Center is named in memory of the teenage son of long-time YRF supporters, whose unexpected death spurred an outpouring of generosity in his name. Stocked with computers, audio and video equipment, textbooks, periodicals and literature, the new Center will be specially designed to teach English in a fun, interactive environment, and will serve 3,500-5,000 underprivileged students annually -- representing more than half the child population in Ramla.
Through a special challenge grant by a partner foundation, all proceeds from the Winter Benefit will be matched 1:1.
That means that for every $100 of revenue generated at this event, $200 will go directly toward building the Center.
